Below is a photograph I did years ago on 6x7 medium format fujichrome velvia film. I was always excited by the potential of this image but it has been a struggle to produce a good print. It's a very high-contrast scene that pushes the limits of the range that the film is able to record, and that makes translating it to a good looking print very difficult. So, I've revisited that piece of film and finally got something I'm pleased with. The result is what you see here.

Waldo Lake and Diamond Peak, Cascade Mountains, Oregon. I'd like to spend a lot more time shooting at Waldo Lake. This is mid-July and peak mosquito season.

Sort of a twin lake, Hosmer Lake is one of the "Cascade Lakes" near Elk Lake and Sparks Lake. Hosmer is a fantastic place for a canoe or kayak as the middle part of the lake is a narrow passage winding through forests and meadows.

The Summit chairlift at Mt. Bachelor ascends into the clouds. Mt. Bachelor, of course, is a dormant volcano near Bend, Oregon and the highest lift-served skiing in the Pacific Northwest.

Two photographs, sunrise October 19, 2014 Sunrise at Sparks Lake and view of South Sister. I've photographed sunrise and sunset at Sparks lake far too many times now. Many times I come away with nothing to speak of. Then again, sometimes it really is exciting to get up in the early morning cold and watch things happen. In just a brief five or ten minutes the clouds went from pink to red and orange to yellow and then the color was gone.
